National Football League Week Five Action: Eagles vs Broncos and More Games
Real-time Football Coverage
Greetings, NFL enthusiasts! Get ready for week five of the NFL action, as I provide all the action from the early games. This is a nice late morning affair on the Pacific coast at 10am (PST), running to an early evening 6:00 PM (BST) in jolly old England. Recently, the Minnesota Vikings fought back to defeat the Browns 21-17 thanks to a 12-yard Jordan Addison TD reception with under half a minute left at the London venue. Minnesota move to 3-2, while Cleveland fall to 1-4. Today's lineup is in full swing.
We have a healthy selection of six matchups to cover:
Ravens v Houston Texans
Panthers against Dolphins
Indianapolis Colts vs Raiders
Saints v New York Giants
Jets v Dallas Cowboys
Philadelphia Eagles against Denver Broncos
Key Battle: Philadelphia Face Denver
The BIG game is going down in Philly with the unbeaten reigning champions welcoming from Denver. On paper, you might expect an easy win, but a brief look reveals headlines questioning whether the Philadelphia are the worst 4-0 team ever. Who knows. However, is they have enjoyed some fortune on special teams with three blocked kicks, including one that earned a win against the Rams. A crucial factor will be how Denver defense coach their coordinator dials up his linebackers to stop the Eagles' dual threat quarterback Jalen Hurts from marauding down the field. Should they force the pass, then a significant victory might follow for the Broncos, now with two wins and two losses, which would make many analysts, myself included, who said the Denver would finally depose the Kansas City Chiefs in the division looking a little happier.
Additional Matchups to Watch
Elsewhere, a number of teams with single victories are eager to edge closer to a winning record with a W, or right on the button in the case of the Dallas Cowboys after their wild high-scoring draw with Green Bay has them at one win, two losses, one tie. A trip to the New Jersey to face the yet to win New York Jets should do the trick as they look to keep the scoring outbursts going between quarterback Prescott and receiver George Pickens. Ultimately, top receiver Lamb's absence might actually help the Cowboys as his expanded duties since will have accelerated his progression, creating the offense more powerful when Lamb comes back. Currently, the New York's defense needs to be on their toes and even more to avoid a disappointing fall to 0-5.
Baltimore Take On Texans in Unexpected Matchup
A pair of unexpected teams with one win and three losses go head-to-head in Maryland as the injury-hit Ravens are guided into action with the Texans by back-up quarterback Rush. In this fixture previously, we saw Beyoncé’s stupendous performance bookended by the Texans suffering a horrendous one-sided loss at their stadium on the holiday, then a decisive whipping in the postseason a few weeks after at Baltimore. However, without the injured two-time MVP Jackson on the field, who threw multiple scores, ran in additional TDs, and accumulated 507 total yards in the previous games, the Texans' defense will be confident.
